About this lesson

Completeness has three key elements: hitting all requirements in the question, allocating your paragraphs fairly across those requirements, and—crucially—finishing your answer within the time limit. You'll discover how to interpret multi-part questions correctly. The lesson walks through a practical example where a question asks you to evaluate suitability, acceptability, and feasibility. Many students misinterpret such questions, looking for advantages, disadvantages, or stakeholder analysis when none of those are actually required. By reading carefully and breaking the question into its constituent parts, you'll identify exactly what the examiner wants and structure your paragraphs accordingly. The most important element of completeness is time management. You'll learn how to create a simple time plan at the start of each section: deduct your reading time (typically 7–8 minutes) from the 60 minutes available, then allocate the remaining time proportionally to each subtask based on the percentage marks. The lesson shows you how to use the countdown timer as a prompt to move between subtasks, even if your answer feels incomplete. This is where the law of diminishing returns matters: it's far better to achieve 70–80% across all subtasks than to perfect one answer and leave others unfinished. You'll also learn practical tips for staying on track: minimise reviewing time, prioritise writing over polishing, and resist perfectionism. The key takeaway is that consistent practice with mock exams under timed conditions is the best way to develop the discipline and confidence to manage your time effectively in the real exam.
