About this lesson
We cover the two main types—cash ISAs and stocks and shares ISAs—their tax treatment, annual investment limits, and eligibility requirements you need to know for the Advanced Tax paper. You'll also explore when ISAs are genuinely useful for your clients. While ISAs offer complete exemption from income tax and capital gains tax, they're less attractive to basic rate taxpayers now that savings and dividend nil rate bands exist. However, additional rate taxpayers and those with dividend income over £500 still benefit significantly from ISA protection. This lesson gives you the practical knowledge to advise clients on whether ISAs fit their individual tax position, rather than treating them as a standard checkbox answer.
