This theory refresher focuses on variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs), including basic, sales mix and quantity, fixed overhead, planning and operational variances, as well as sustainability KPIs. You’ll revise how to explain whether variances are favourable or adverse, apply information from the VIVA scenario, and avoid generic explanations. You’ll also learn a four-step method for designing effective KPIs: state the measure, explain how it is calculated, identify suitable comparisons and targets, and assign accountability.
